VILLAGERS in Nympsfield came together to organise their first fayre for a some years on Saturday.
Exciting stalls and games crowded the village's playing field in Tinkley Lane, including a coconut shy, welly wang, and penalty shoot out.
A marquee was also set up as an arts and crafts tent and for a barbecue and bar.
A children's fancy dress procession paraded from the village hall to the playing field, making a detour past St Jude's Residential Home so that elderly residents could see some of the exciting outfits.
Among the imaginative costumes were Little Miss Muffet, a Red Indian and a dinosaur.
Roy Kirby Paragon Jazz Band provided musical entertainment for the afternoon.
The fun did not stop until late with a barn dance hosted by folk group The Amazing Matchless Band and a hog roast.
Villager Janet Acton said: "We had not had a village fayre for a few years and I thought it was only right that Nympsfield should have one.
"We have not counted up the final total but I think we have raised about £4,000 to £5,000.
"The money will go towards improving our playing field and updating the village pavilion so that more groups can use them."
Janet plans to organise next year's Nympsfield Village Fayre - anyone interested in helping out should call her on 01453 861067.
