BUSINESSES are being asked to donate a host of prizes to a fundraising auction in memory of beloved mother-of-four Carole Ward, who died of cancer earlier this year.

Well-known Stroud Tesco worker Carole died in May aged 52, just eight days after being told she had pancreatic cancer which had spread to her liver.

Her daughter Claire Wilkinson has jointly organised a disco and auction in aid of Cancer Research UK at The Rose Inn pub in Paganhill, Stroud, on what would have been Carole’s 53rd birthday on Saturday, January 29, next year.

"We know it is going to be hard for us all that day so we wanted to do something special," said Claire, who lives in Cashes Green.

"Mum raised a lot of money for charity herself so this is something we know she would love."

The Rose landlady Julie Zimmer said donors can drop prizes off at the pub or contact her on 01453 764 346.

Among those received so far are match day tickets for Forest Green Rovers, a cut and blowdry at Impressions Hair Design in Stroud and a free MoT at Marsh Garage in Leonard Stanley.
