FAMILIES took part in a sponsored cycle ride on Saturday to raise money to buy bikes for families with limited finances.
The free event on Saturday was organised by The Park and Five Ways Children’s Centre Cluster in Stonehouse who reckon more than £500 was raised.
Stonehouse town councillor David Drew led the five-mile bike ride along the canal path to Ebley Mill, where the weary cyclists stopped for a picnic before continuing to Stroud Farmers’ Market.
Two police officers on bikes accompanied the group while Gloucestershire Bike Project was on hand with a puncture repair kit and pump to ensure a smooth ride.
Community family worker Torsten Klaus said 30 cyclists took part and the day was a success.
"It was a great day out for the whole family and luckily we managed to avoid getting wet."
