AN 11-YEAR-OLD boy was approached by a man who tried to coax him into his car.

Yesterday, Thursday, the boy was outside Tesco Express in Stratford Road when a dark blue Toyota pulled up at around 3.30pm.

A thin, white man wearing a black T-shirt with writing on it which read ‘Bad Boys’ called out and said the boy’s mum had told him to pick him up.

On Wednesday at around 7.15am, the same man, who was clean shaven, in his 30s and had dark hair and a silver necklace with a cross on it, pulled up alongside the boy in Eagle Mill Close and offered him some sweets.

On both occasions the boy ran off.

The boy was not touched or forced to get into the car in either incident.

Detective Inspector Kevin McCloskey said: "The young boy did exactly the right thing on both occasions by refusing to take anything from the stranger and running away before telling a responsible adult."
