THOMAS Keble School in Eastcombe is celebrating its 21st anniversary on Saturday, October 8 with former pupils, parents and staff taking part in festivities.

Headteacher Chris Steer said: "This anniversary is particularly special because it is our coming of age, signifying the school's transition over the years."

Thomas Keble celebrated record GCSE results in the summer and became the first school in the country to win the British Council's International School Award for the fifth consecutive time.

"We have so much to learn from different cultures and countries," said Mr Steer.

Links are being forged with charity Afrikids which works with indigenous communities in Ghana to improve the quality of life for vulnerable children.

To raise funds for the charity, the whole school will be taking part in a sponsored six-mile walk on Friday, October 7.

The next day, the school will celebrate its 21st anniversary with an open day and raffle.

Tickets are available from the school office.
