THE effects of the Civil War on Gloucestershire are being studied during a six-week history course run by the Stroud branch of the Workers Educational Association.
Held in Stroud library, the course led by Russell Howes, called The Stuarts and the Civil War, runs every Tuesday from 7.30pm between October 4 and November 8.
In Gloucestershire, the feud between the Royalists and Parliamentarians culminated in an attack from King Charles I on Gloucester in 1643.
On Saturday, members of the WEA and members of the English Civil War Society dressed up in costume to promote the course at Stroud farmers' market.
