SIMON Foxley, who has died at the age of 21, was a talented musician with a caring, sensitive personality.

Hundreds of tributes have been left on a Facebook page set up in memory of Simon, from Hyde near Minchinhampton, who has been described as an emotional, caring young man. His family believe he took his own life at home after receiving hurtful comments on the social networking site.

A gifted drummer, Simon performed with Nailsworth Silver Band alongside brothers Gary and David.

He had also played with Wotton and District Silver Band, the Five Valleys Music Centre at Archway School and Gloucestershire Youth Brass Band.

Simon, who died in the early hours of Wednesday, September 21, also played with bands while studying at Deer Park School in Cirencester, at sixth form in Malmesbury and at Stroud College.

He had just started a degree at the Academy of Music and Sound in Swindon and his family believe a career as a professional musician beckoned.

His younger brother David, 18, said: "We had so much in common and we shared so many moments growing up, we would always be there for each other. You were a superb drummer.

"You were one of the lucky ones who could have had a career in something you loved."

His mother Diane said: "You were not only my son but my support and strength through difficult times.

"You were such a talented drummer and had a great future ahead of you. But more than anything else, you were such a genuine, caring and sensitive lad who would have made a great husband and dad."

His father Graham said Simon loved family life.

He also recalled how Simon lovingly nursed his pet Burmese cat Taz back to health following a car accident.

His older brother Gary said: "Simon was such a great person with so much potential. He was becoming a great drummer and will be missed so much as a friend and a brother."

The Facebook page is called RIP Simon Paul Foxley.
