AROUND £25,000 worth of art was stolen in a burglary at Stroud Auction Rooms at The Bear of Rodborough.
Police believe burglars gained entry to the building in Rodborough Common using a ladder to reach a window, which they then smashed, between 8pm on Tuesday, October 11 and 8.15am yesterday, Wednesday, October 12.
Some 25 items of valuable Asian art, made from jade, porcelain and wood, were stolen including a bamboo libation cup worth £8,000 and a blue and white porcelain figure of a goddess, worth £4,500.
An auction preview was due to be held yesterday, showcasing the Asian art.
