THE QUALITY of learning, the enthusiasm and confidence of pupils and an interesting curriculum were all praised in a positive Ofsted report for Christ Church Primary School in Chalford.

Inspectors awarded the school the second highest overall rating of 'good' following their visit in May.

They commended the sensible attitude shown by pupils towards their work.

"Students thoroughly enjoy school, as illustrated by their above average levels of attendance," the report notes.

"Pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is good overall, although their understanding of the multicultural society in which we live is a relative weakness."

However, the report noted that pupils participate in village life by taking part in activities in church.

Zoe Mandeville, acting headteacher, said: "We are extremely pleased Ofsted recognise the dedication of staff and governors who provide a pleasant, safe environment, where pupils enjoy learning. "We are now looking forward to the year ahead where we will continue to deliver interesting lessons for the varying ages and abilities of pupils at our small school."
