INTERNATIONALLY renowned artist Ken Hancock is to showcase his work at a charity exhibition in Nailsworth.

Mr Hancock, 86, who is the only British artist to be made a full member of the exclusive La Société Nationale des Beaux Arts, rarely exhibits his work outside of London, Paris or his own gallery in Tetbury.

However, he has agreed to showcase his work for two weeks at the newly-restored Holcombe Mill to help raise money for the Cotswold Care Hospice, Gloucestershire Group Homes and Pangolin’s Ruwenzori Sculpture Foundation.

The month-long exhibition was originally scheduled to run throughout April but has will now been put back to May, commencing on Wednesday, May 2 and ending on Sunday, May 27.

As part of the exhibition, organised by artsAid, Cotswold Care Hospice is offering one artist an opportunity to display their work in its garden in Minchinhampton.

The charity is commissioning a competition for a memory sculpture to celebrate the efforts of its fundraisers and patients.

All entries will be exhibited in the final week of the artsAid exhibition at Holcombe Mill with the winning design announced on the final day.

Artists must be living or working in the Cotswolds and prepared to submit initial designs, budgets and information by April 2.
