CONSCIENTIOUS children in Chalford have been writing to influential figures in London to raise the profile of homelessness in the Five Valleys.

Volunteers from homeless charity Marah Trust visited Year 5 pupils at Chalford Hill Primary School in November, inspiring them to enlist the support of high profile figures.

Molly Sedgwick-Taylor, 10, wrote to several businesses and the Prime Minister and received a cheque for £100 and a response from David Cameron’s wife Samantha.

She wrote: "I am writing on behalf of the charity Marah to let you know of the supportive and worthwhile work that it does in helping the homeless people on the streets of Stroud.

"Marah strongly relies on donations and requires extra funding to ensure that it will continue with this wonderful work.

"I hope that you will be able to donate to help the work carry on."

The class also received responses from Buckingham Palace, the Duchess of Cambridge and Ecotricity.

Marah is still looking for volunteers to help at its three weekly drop-in sessions. To help or donate call 01453 767655.
