A FAMILY is celebrating the birth of a fifth-generation member.

Supergran Ruth Hayton, nee Brown, 88, is over the moon with the latest addition to her family - her fifth great-great grandchild.

Little Lewis Woods was born at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital at 4.19pm on Wednesday May 30, weighing 7lb 4oz.

He joins his mum Chloe Aylmer, 20, of Paganhill, grandma Sarah Aylmer, 40, also of Paganhill, and great-grandma Margaret Davies, 58 of Ebley.

Ruth, who lives at Walter Preston Court, Cashers Green, is at the helm of the large family.

She said: "I’m glad I am still alive and well enough to see them all."

Ruth has three children, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She added: "I made a rule that they stop getting Christmas presents when they get to 16."

"We don’t all get together often, but hopefully we will all come together for my 90th birthday next year."

Baby Lewis can expect to be very spoilt by the four generations of women.

Grandma Sarah said: "Being a Grandma is amazing, I absolutely love it. I am proud as punch. I have three girls so it is nice to have a grandson."

He is the first born child of Chloe and her boyfriend Ricky Woods, 22.

Chloe, a former pupil at Archway School, Stroud, said: "I am really enjoying being a mother. I would not change it for the world."

Ricky, who restores furniture at Piano Workshop, Stroud, added: "He is great. It is a lot easier than I thought."
