HUNGRY shoppers looking to refuel and take a load off need search no further than Stroud’s newly refurbished Milano’s Cafe.

The Russell Street bistro has recently reopened following a nine-month renovation and now boasts plush, leather seating for up 75 customers with a mouth-watering menu to match.

As well as freshly cooked full English breakfasts, hearty sandwiches and omelettes, peckish patrons can also tuck into a selection of traditional roasts, locally sourced steaks and freshly prepared salads.

These are complemented by Lavazza Italian coffee, teas, soft drinks, milkshakes and a range of cakes to enjoy with a selection of daily papers.

Owner Huseyin Cinar, who bought the business eight years ago and whose family run Fifteen Bistro across the road in George Street, could not be happier with the cafe’s classy new look and light, airy feel since it reopened.

The open-plan kitchen reveals spotless, stainless steel work surfaces and the freshly painted walls are adorned with classic, black and white snaps of Stroud, including one of the Four Clocks draped in Union Jacks to celebrate King George V’s Silver Jubilee in 1935 and housewives queuing outside the former bakery next door to the cafe when it was a fishmongers.

"Cleanliness and tasty food is everything to us," said Huseyin.

"Our customers always said our menu was five-star but everyone agreed the building needed a lot of work," he said.

"Now we have it all and I want everyone to know we are back open."
