REDUCED library hours will be introduced in Nailsworth on Monday, September 3.

Nailsworth library is currently open for 35 hours a week but will go down to 22 hours a week following a public consultation.

The new opening hours include 12 hours of statutory library provision and 10 hours with the support of volunteers and the town council.

On Mondays and Wednesdays the library will open for six hours from10am-1pm and 2pm –5pm, and seven hours on Fridays from10am-1pm and 2pm-6pm.

The library will also open for three hours on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.

Sue Laurence, head of libraries at Gloucestershire County Council, said: "These amended hours are being introduced acting on feedback from our recent consultation, where the majority supported these hours and said they would still be able to access the library during these times.

"Some respondents have said they would find additional lunchtime and afternoon opening hours helpful, and we are working with the community and local organisations to explore different options on how we could do this."
