THOUSANDS of pounds worth of lead has been stolen from the Halfway House in Box in broad daylight.

The incident happened between 10am and 3pm yesterday, Thursday, July 26.

All the lead has been stripped from the building, including huge sheets from the roof.

Damage has also been caused to the front of the pub, which is owned by Novalis Trust.

Natural stone tiles were also stolen from the nearby bus shelter and electric substation.

Jake Lukas, chief executive of Novalis Trust, said: "The pub is not completely closed and derelict. It is still used by staff and children from Cotswold Chine School.

"My worry is that people think it is easy pickings. It is very upsetting.

"We are asking the local community to be careful and remain vigilant."
