DESIGN proposals for the Wallbridge area of Stroud have gone on display in Ecotricity's Unicorn House.
The designs have been drawn up by Nailsworth architect David Austin and sponsored by Ecotricity, which is inviting people to visit the office in Russell Street, Stroud to view them.
During a consultation earlier this year, residents supported the idea of removing the temporary road at Wallbridge - but no vision was presented as to what might be possible in its place.
Mr Austin's designs take inspiration from canal cities such as Venice, Amsterdam and Bruges, and the proposals present the possibility of Stroud having a public space similar to that of Stratford-upon-Avon.
He said: "These aren't final plans, of course, and we are keen for people to come into Ecotricity and give us feedback about what they think."
They have been seen by Stroud Town Council, The Stroudwater Canal Trust and Stroud Civic Society, whose members have been impressed.
