WYCLIFFE College head teacher Margie Burnet Ward has announced with ‘considerable sadness’ the death of English teacher Jon Pyle.
Mr Pyle, who had been ill for some time, passed away at his home last night, Tuesday, October 9.
Although his illness had largely kept him away from school during the past 18 months, pupils were today informed of his passing and offered the opportunity to talk with staff and the college chaplain should they wish.
Mrs Burnet Ward said: "He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
"As a colleague, he was greatly respected and well-loved for his intelligence, warmth and wit.
"He was exceptionally well-read and cultured and was a true gentleman.
"Mr Pyle’s family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers."
