STAFF and customers at Lloyds TSB in Stroud raised nearly £1,000 for the Alzheimer's Society by cycling 500 miles.

As part of a nation wide charity day for the banking group staff at the branch in Rowcroft organised a sponsored cycle which saw six static exercise bikes placed in the banks lobby for the day on Thursday, March 28.

Senior bank manager Samuel Aitchison-Turvey spent over three hours on the bike throughout the day.
"There has been a bit of competition between the staff over who would clock the most miles and I'm happy to say that it's me, although one of the account directors Dan Thomas came a close second with two and a half hours," said Mr Aitchison-Turvey.
"We have had such a great response and it has been wonderful to see just how generous our customers have been with donations.
"All together staff and customers donated 33 cycling hours, about 500 miles, and raised £480 for the Alzheimer's Society, which will be matched by Lloyds TSB giving us a total of £960."

Lloyds TSB local director Kevin Powell visited the branch for the day and put in some time on the bikes.
"I was great to see so many customers getting involved and being able to see the bank doing its part for the community," he said.
