AN opticians in Stroud has given the gift of sight by providing specs for people in Sri Lanka who do not have proper, affordable eyecare.
Unwanted glasses collected by staff at Specsavers in King Street were given to Stroud Rotary Club before a member travelled to Sri Lanka to donate the recycled specs to communities.
Store director Jonathan Bowen-Davies said: "This work is extremely important for these people, as improving their vision can lead to them accessing a better standard of education or obtaining a job. We would like to thank the local community who made this project possible by donating old specs.
"We are still collecting specs though, so it would be great if anyone with any unwanted glasses could drop them into our collection box in store."
