THE owners of The Old Fleece at Woodchester are celebrating after being open for more than two decades.

The pub in Rooksmoor Hill celebrated its 21st anniversary on July 21 and has gone from strength to strength since it opened in 1993, when owners Nick Beardsley and Christophe Coquoin bought the derelict former coaching house and began renovating it on a shoestring budget.

Originally the pair ran the kitchen and since then have remained intimately involved in the business.

Nick’s son Ollie was born in the building and grew up there, before eventually becoming to the youngest licensee in the country with his name above the door of the pub – when he was just 18.

The Old Fleece is part of Nick and Cristophe’s business venture, The Cotswold Food Club, which also owns and runs The Old Lodge on Minchinhampton Common, The Britannia in Nailsworth and Foston’s Ash near Slad.

“We are both so proud to be celebrating The Old Fleece’s 21st birthday. I hope our success shows budding restaurateurs that with hard work and dedication they can make their dreams a reality,” said Nick.
