A STONEHOUSE dental practice is offering patients a free mouth cancer screening as part of Mouth Cancer Action Month.

The team at Woodcock Lane Dental Care in Stonehouse is getting behind the scheme this November to help check for symptoms of a disease that, without early detection, could claim 30,000 lives over the next decade.

“Mouth cancer can often be spotted in its early stages by a dentist during a mouth examination and, if caught early, there is a 90 per cent chance of survival,” said David Lyons, principal dentist at the Woodcock Lane surgery.

“Dental teams are also in the ideal position to share information about the risks and symptoms of mouth cancer with their patients.

“With this in mind we are welcoming anyone to come along to Woodcock Lane Dental Care for a free mouth cancer screening during the month of November.

The mouth cancer screen involves a soft tissue check and discussing any concerns the patient may have.
