New soft drinks enterprise gets off to a mouth-watering start

APRICOT and ginger, and passion fruit and mango are just two of the mouth-watering flavours available from new soft drinks company Five Valleys Cordials.

Based in Ebley, the business is owned and ran by husband and wife team Chris and Becks Baker, who have been successfully trading their thrist-quenching products at Stroud farmers’ market since the start of the summer.

Having worked for 15 years as the new product development manager at Woodchester-based soft drinks giant Bottlegreen, Chris set up his rival company at the start of the year after spending some time travelling.

Most recently their cordials, which also include lemon and mint, and pomegranate and rose, have also been available at Over Farm market in Over, near Gloucester, and now the pair are hoping to launch the drinks in several more outlets across Stroud.

"We are really pleased with the reaction we have had at the farmers’ market," said Chris, who developed the products with a flavours and extract company in Somerset and a fruit juice supplier in Devon.

"We like to think of the cordials as having a nice mainstream flavour, but with a little twist – a bit different but approachable."

"I have ideas to introduce lots more flavours, including lemongrass and lavender which we hope to bring out soon, but we want to build awareness first before we start to get a bit wacky."

All cordials are priced £2.99 and are available each week at Stroud Farmers’ Market.

Chris will also make home deliveries within the local area.
