NEARLY fifty people ventured out to this year’s party; and what a party they had.
Those with mobility difficulties were transported to Eastcombe Village Hall and everyone who attended was welcomed with a glass of sherry or a soft drink.
The beautifully decorated tables were laid out to enable everyone to sit with their friends and enjoy good company.
The ‘Cookies’, a three piece group from Deer Park School, started the afternoon with a selection of Christmas Carols with everyone joining in, singing at the top of their voices, ably encouraged by PPG members.
Christmas crackers were pulled, more sherry poured and everyone tucked in to a huge range of sandwiches, sausage rolls, mince pies and fancy cakes followed by tea and coffee as well as another glass of sherry for one or two experienced party goers.
The raffle was drawn towards the end of the afternoon and nearly every table managed to collect a prize which included eight wonderful table decorations along with an assortment of wine, biscuits, chocolates, chutneys, jams and a Christmas pudding.
The general opinion by the attendees was ‘great!
If we are around next year we will certainly make the effort’.
Thanks to Dr Tim Crouch, Ruth Henny and all members of the PPG for a truly great event.
