THINKING caps were donned as Stroud Rotary Club’s successful Quiz Night raised hundreds of pounds for Stroud-based Meningitis Now.

Around 100 people, 25 teams of four, got quizzical over nine rounds, including sport, who’s who and nature, at King’s Stanley Village Hall for the club’s charity of the year.

The Inner Wheel ladies prepared a perfect ploughman’s supper, there was also a raffle and Millionaire’s Round with swelling cash pot for one lucky table, on Thursday, February 27.

Club president Ken Weaver said: “The quiz always proves a popular, fun evening and it was great to see so many people.

“The atmosphere was competitive, but friendly and a lot was raised for such a wonderful cause.”

Meningitis Now’s team, which included chief executive Sue Davie, came a respectable sixth.

Ms Davie added: “We thank the Rotarians and Inner Wheel for organising such a splendid night.

“Every penny raised will help us continue to fight the deadly disease on all fronts – fund pioneering research to eradicate meningitis, raise vital awareness and support survivors and their families.”
