AT the February meeting Dave Marlow conducted a tasting of Italian wines from various regions combined with a quiz about the country and it's history.
The selection of wines presented was well received and the two prizes for the most correct quiz answers was won by Dave Raymond and wife Roslyn.
In addition to the wines, members were invited to sample Grappa which is a clear spirit indigenous to Italy.
Members thought this to be an acquired taste and not a drink they could buy.
The Chairperson, Valerie Fussell, thanked Dave for effort.
There were three competitions and in the table red dry class, Valerie Fussell took top spot with Brenda and Dave Marlow coming second and third respectively.
The table red sweet was won by Fred Gilpin with Dave Marlow second and Cyril Young third.
Don Wilkins won the lager competition.
All entries were judged by Stuart and Bridget Wilsdon from Cheltenham who were very complimentary o the standard of wines and lager.
