ON Saturday, March 22 between 12 and 2.00p.m., Rev Eric Massey had organised a soup lunch at Rodborough Tabernacle United Reformed Church.

He has prepared Bible Studies during Lent based on the musical 'Les Miserables' and Stephen Tate, who lives in Stroud and who played Fauchelevent in the film, came and recounted his experiences which was wonderful for everyone who attended and £70 was raised for Christian Aid.

Sunday, March 23 after Morning Worship the Annual General Meeting of the Tab took place chaired by the Minister Rev. Eric Massey.

A very comprehensive set of reports from all the main officers and the organisations that use the Tab were circulated which had been collated by John and Rose Cook.

The main purpose of the meeting is to elect new elders.

These are people who help the Minister with the running of the Tab.

Anne Evans was the retiring elder and will be thanked at a later date for all her hard work and Gill Malcom and Peter Freeman, recently moved into the area from other churches, will be the new elders and were elected unanimously.

Diana Davis will be reducing her work as Treasurer and Clive Malcolm will be taking over.

Diana thanked her husband Richard for his continued support.

Eric was thanked for all his hard work with the help of his wife Glenis and all the people who continue to contribute to the Ministry at the Tab.

On Sunday, March 30 at 10.30 in the Main Sanctuary Rev Eric Massey conducted an All Age and Interactive Service for Mothering Sunday. He asked Bruce to help him by being blindfolded and having to trust Eric.

How prejudice and ignorance blind everyone to the terrible suffering in some parts of the World.

Mothers looking after their children in terrible circumstances.

Eric asked Finlay to light three candles for: the Mothers, Children and the Light of the World.

During the service Margaret and David and Maggie and Bryan were presented with beautiful baskets of flowers to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversaries.

It is also tradition that posies of flowers are given out to everyone to celebrate Mothering Sunday.

Margaret and David were helped with the collection by their great granddaughter Daisy. Brian and Barbara read the lessons

Miriam was asked to help Eric.

She had a puppet called Emma and Eric had a modern day Jesus.

Emma was blindfolded and then Kay came and took off the scarf to symbolise her seeing the truth.

It was a very happy time at the Tab but Eric’s strong message of how important the family and a mother’s love all over the World was strongly felt.

Everyone then went into the Community Room where Margaret and David had brought a delicious cake to be shared for their Anniversary.
