ON Sunday afternoon, March 30, 13 members of Stroud Rambling Club enjoyed a walk with sunshine and not too much mud.

We had a short drive from Stroud Leisure Centre to the long stay car park in Nailsworth.

We went to the start of the 'W', turned right into Pensile Road and followed this quiet road until we came to the footpath that takes you above the garden centre and out onto the Avening Road.

This was followed to just after the Weighbridge Public House where we joined another path that took us up into Hazelwood.

Near the top of the woods we took another path which took us onto and past Longmans Barn Farm.

From here there are good views across the valley towards Gatcombe Wood.

It was all very pleasant and easy going under foot.

When we got into Avening we had a stop in the church yard for D.I.Y. refreshments.

After 20 minutes Paul who was leading the walk called time and we set off for the walk back to Nailsworth, we were higher up than the outward journey and this gave us some fine views looking towards Minchinhampton and its unusual church tower.

Stroud Rambling Club arranges a walk for every Sunday, some loal and some farther afield.

See our website for information or visit your local library who have a copy of our programme.
