THE April Fool’s Day meeting of Cainscross WI was very well attended with apologies only from Dorothy Isles.

Two visitors were also present and hopefully enjoyed themselves enough to visit us again.

Some beautiful spring flowers including lovely golden daffodils were arranged by Pam Elliott for the President’s table and business was kept to the very minimum as this was the Members’ Cheese & Wine evening.

Rowena Eccles told us all about her enjoyable day at the Annual Council Meeting, recently held in Cheltenham, which included a talk by broadcaster and author Simeon Courtie, another by Julia Roberts the NFWI Membership Committee Chairman and a lovely performance by the winning GFWI Singing for Joy Choir.

Member Tina Hewgill then told us all about her ‘bursary winning’ trip to Denman College for a course of Mediterranean Cookery.

Whilst there she cooked pasta, chicken and a host of other savoury dishes.

Better still, she brought us along a sample of her savoury bread which included artichokes and was really yummy.

It also went nicely with our supper of cheese, crackers, grapes and tomatoes which we washed down with a selection of wines or lemonade.

We all had a good chat whilst enjoying our supper, or some members joined in a couple of fun quizzes prepared by our President.

We rounded off with the calling of the raffle with some very good prizes on offer.

If you would like to join us for our next meeting, the date will be Tuesday, May 6, to start at 7.15pm as usual in St. Matthew’s Church Hall, Church Road, Cainscross, when the Resolutions will be followed by a ‘fun’ mini-auction.

Remember what you do not need, or have got bored with, may well be what somebody else is needing.

Visitors are very welcome, at a cost of £2 each, so hope to see you there.

More details from 01453 762812 if needed.
