ON April 2, we were pleased and proud to be celebrating the club’s Ruby Anniversary, which almost 70 members attended.

The evening commenced with Daphne Turner, founder, and long- time member gave an enlightening history of the club’s past 40 years.

Daphne’s talk evoked some poignant emotions and memories of great times past.

She complimented her talk with a stunning display of her own flower arrangements.

A lovely celebration cake, made by our Chairman Jo Mason from a recipe given to her by Alice Mc Donald who is sadly no longer with us, was cut by Daphne and Jo Heffernan our President, and was enjoyed by members with a glass of Bubbly or cordial.

The celebrations continued with three flower arrangements depicting the changes of styles during the forty years of the club demonstrated for us by our own Jayne Morriss.

Annual memberships were paid and programmes for the coming years events were given out.

Members are looking forward to a celebratory lunch at Egypt Mill in May and outings and practice classes are being arranged throughout the year.

New members and visitors are always welcome.

Our next meeting is on May 7 at 7.30pm, in Nailsworth Town Hall when Bob Harris (National Demonstrator) will be taking the stage.
