KAREN welcomed a new member.

Details were given of various activities including a visit to Hobbs House Bakery in Chipping Sodbury.

Two members accepted an invitation from France Lynch W.I. to their eighty second birthday party on May 14.

There were several items of interest in the County Newsletter.

Marjorie Lambert won the draw for the bursary to go to Denman College and Claire asked for orders for bulbs to be in at the May meeting.

Karen gave her report on the County A.GM. in Cheltenham.

We considered ourselves very fortunate to be such a flourishing W.I. with a large membership when some were struggling to keep going.

The speaker, Simeon Courtnie, comedy writer and author, gave a very interesting and amusing talk on his family’s travel abroad for a year in a camper van.

Members were encouraged to submit photographs of Trees of Gloucestershire for the 2016 calendar.

They were also asked to bring examples of items they had made on W.I. courses or events to show at the May meeting.

Our August meeting will be earlier at 5.00 o’clock in the Scout Hut and will take the form of a vintage cream tea.

After coffee and biscuits we were introduced to ‘The World of Lingerie’ by Debbie Holbrooke.

She began by explaining that there was a big gap in the market for proper bra fitting and how really important a correct fit is.

Too many women wear bras that are not right for them.

From age nine to ninety five there is definitely the right shape and size for everyone as proved by the fact that it is known that 80 per cent of women wear the wrong sized bra.

Debbie works from home near Newent and an appointment system means that everyone gets individual attention and plenty of time to try different garments from a large selection.

This also includes underwear, swimwear and trousers.

Debbie brought many bras to tempt us in all styles, colours, shapes and sizes including sports and mastectomy bras.

To many of us her talk was an eye-opener as shown by the interest shown in the garments at the end.

She was thanked by Dinah.
