ON Sunday, April 13 at 10.30a.m., a service for Palm Sunday took place conducted by Rev. Eric Massey.

Eric and John accompanied the choir in the singing of 'Hosanna in the highest'.

Palm Sunday hymns were sung including Eric’s composition 'People shouted Saviour' which he had written in 2012 and the lessons were read by him and Brian.

It was also the baptism of Joshua William Arthur, the son of Matthew and Rachel and grandson of Maureen and Gerald, Church members.

There were five godparents and after the ceremony Eric introduced Joshua to the congregation accompanied by big brother Sam whilst the choir sang 'Edelwiess'.

Eric told how Jesus rode into the camp of his enemies.

That the crowd was full of expectations which soon changed.

Jesus wants justice, love and freedom but mean spiritedness, violence and consumerism stops this from being a reality.

Everyone retired to the Community Room with family and friends of the Arthur family and Glenis distributed the traditional Palm crosses.

On Wednesday, April 16 at 2.30p.m., Rev Eric Massey led Fellowship for 'Easter Time' in the Community Room.

He had everyone recalling their youth with music starting from 1945 going by decade which he accompanied with his guitar.

Rose Wixon recited a poem which she remembered her brother had read to her when she was a little girl.

Eric said that cruelty had a firm grip in the Easter Story.

That everyone thought that Jesus would overthrow the Roman Occupation but his was a different way.

That we can not have Easter without the cross.

The meeting ended with tea and biscuits in fellowship.

At 7.00p.m. in the Little Chapel on April 17, Rev Eric Massey conducted a service for Maundy Thursday.

He had set out twelve tea lights in red holders with a large white candle representing Jesus in the centre.

Glenis read out the names of the disciples and Tom lit them as they were called.

It is now tradition that Eric performs the washing of hands and he did so saying appropriate words to each one very movingly.

Eric and Brian read the lessons telling of the Last Supper.

This was the calm before the storm and changed the understanding of what was happening.

Communion was served in remembrance of the first time that Jesus did this for his disciples.

At 10.00a.m. in the Little Chapel on April 18, Rev. Eric Massey conducted a service for Good Friday.

The service started with Brian banging a hammer three times to represent the nails of the Crucifixion.

During the hymn 'On the Cross' Carole place the Crown of Thorns, the Purple Robe and the Bull Rush Staff on the Wooden Cross.

The Choir sang 'Come and see' Brian read from John’s Gospel about the Crucifixion.

Glenis read a moving poem about the crowds in Jesus’ life and how he was finally abandoned.

Eric said how very cruel the crucifixion was how everyone would have been very shocked by the savagery and public sacrifice with the disciples mainly scattered.

The congregation left and moved down to below the grave yard where Brian and Tom put the Robe and Crown of Thorns on a wooden cross and then they sowed red and white poppy seed in remembrance of the centenary of World War 1.

Everyone retired to the Community Room for hot cross buns and tea and coffee.

On April 20 at 10.30a.m. in the Main Sanctuary an Easter Sunday Service was conducted by Rev Eric Massey.

The windows and pedestal had been beautifully decorated by Marilyn Brown and her helpers with spring flowers and the front porch had a display of the three crosses which Barbara Cook had prepared together with the lovely altar fall on the pulpit especially for Easter.

Marion Sadler was presented with a basket of flowers to celebrate her ninetieth birthday and Bryan Small later received a bottle of wine for his seventy fifth birthday.

Eric organised an Easter Egg Hunt and the children enjoyed seeking them out.

With Liz’s help Eric led the congregation in the singing of a round 'Christ is Risen' and the choir sang 'Christ a light has shone'.

Glenis read a poem about the Empty Tomb and John read about the first Easter Day with Diana as Mary Magdalene, Jill as the Angel and Tom as Jesus.

Eric said that two billion Christians were celebrating all over the World.

That Mary and the disciples had been uncertain in the dark and thought that some one had taken Jesus.

Because of the Resurrection there is abundant life for all.

After communion the children returned and placed their hard work of symbols of eggs, rabbits and birds on the Spring branches.

Another meaningful Easter led by Eric and everyone appreciated all his hard work.
