THE month of April opened with a display by Barry Horne of Exeter who gave a display and talk on the early stamps of Czechoslovakia, which included many examples of design proofs, the type of material that is very unusual.

On the 16th, the evening consisted of members bringing nine sheets of their favourite subject.

This was well attended and provided a wide range of varied material that members collect.

The following evening a return visit was made to Redditch Philatelic Society headed by our Chairman John Armitage and four Stroud members giving displays.

One, Mike Parker showed the stamps of Haiti.

Two, Peter Adams displayed the early Colonial stamps of Seychelles.

Three, John Loraine gave a talk on the 1d Post Prepaid pre 1840 illustrated with relevant covers.

Four, Bob Tungate gave the stamps and history of Ethiopia up to 1947.

Also a small selection of Italian Municipal Tax Stamps.

All sections were well appreciated by Redditch.

The next meeting of the Stroud P.S. is on May 7, when Mr. Pugh from Rugby P.S. will present a display entitled 'Another Bloody Railway' (Trans Siberian) which promises to be very entertaining.

Meetings are held at St. Joseph's Church Hall, Oldends Lane, Stonehouse, commencing at 7.30 pm.
