CAINSCROSS WI met for the Resolutions meeting, as usual on the first Tuesday of May.

Twenty members voted for the resolution regarding organ donation and apologies were given by Linda Woodward, Pam Elliott, Georgie Hall and Joyce Hart.

Mary Jarrett was thanked for her table arrangement of pretty apricot tulips and Spanish bluebells.

Longstanding member, and former tea hostess, Gillian Welch bade us farewell as she is shortly moving to Weston.

It is sad to say goodbye as she has been such a loyal member, but hopefully we will keep in touch by telephone or email.

Some correspondence was discussed and also the forthcoming Birthday Party outing to Worcestershire in place of the July meeting.

It is hoped to travel by coach to Bishopstone and enjoy a supper prepared by the local W.I.

Val Dalby also updated us with the preparations for the Rose Bowl Competition that we usually enter for the Stroud Show, this year to take place on Saturday, July 19 at Stratford Park.

This is a good and lively show to enter or just pay a visit, with competitions in the Floral Marquee, animals and activities for the children and refreshments available for all.

With business concluded, we got to the ‘fun’ part of the evening with a mini-auction for fundraising purposes.

We had some bargains on sale and a good laugh at the same time.

After this, we finished with refreshments and the calling of the raffle.

If you missed this occasion, we will meet again on Tuesday, June 3, as usual in St. Matthew’s Church Hall, Cainscross, starting at 7.15pm, when we will welcome Pam Slater of Cotswold perfumery, who will be giving a talk with testers available.

The monthly competition will be for ‘A sweet smelling flower arrangement’, so I hope to see you there.

Visitors/new members are always welcome and we have refreshments and a sales table available.
