A BUSY few months for our WI.

In May we celebrated our 82nd birthday, a very enjoyable afternoon tea followed by the Boots No 7 team arriving with preparations and ideas for a younger looking you.

Members have enjoyed a Group Summer meeting at Oakridge WI, a friendly skittles match with Brimscombe and Thrupp WI, an outing to Rodmarton House and lunch at The Lamb, Eastcombe.

We host the County Walk on July 12, with over 60 walkers expected and we hope for a fine day - two, four or six mile walks through our lovely countryside, followed by lunch.

Ann, our President represented our WI at the National AGM in Leeds.

4,500 members attended from all over the UK.

This years resolution for more organ donation was passed with a 98 per cent majority in favour.

Our speaker for June was Pat Chase of the Vine Charity, a charity which helps vulnerable orphaned children in KwaZulu Natal in South Africa, and in July David Stiles talked about antiques and his life as an auctioneer.

Two very interesting speakers.

Our hard working President and Committee have a rest in August, no business meeting, but we plan to have a social gathering on the Common, afternoon tea followed by a walk.

Members still enjoy our monthly sessions of craft, singing, scrabble, walking and lunch club, we have something for everyone.

We are a very friendly WI, visitors and new members are always welcome.
