THE 24 volunteers are based at the Cotswold Care Hospice shop in Nailsworth.

Together they have been volunteering at the shop for 260 years.

Chris Harris is one of the 15 volunteers who have been at the shop since it opened in 2000.

“I come on a Friday morning and always work out the back hanging and tagging clothes,” said Chris, from Eastcombe.

“The shop is lovely and we are friendly bunch.”

“They’re an absolutely brilliant brunch of volunteers,” said shop manager Kay Goff.

“They must be the most dedicated group of volunteers around.”

Many of the volunteers met up to toast the shop’s new look, following a makeover.

The shop in Fountain Street has fitted with a new floor and fixtures and repainted.

“The refurbished shop is bright and light and looks great,” said Kay.

“We want to ensure we are looking our best on the high street.

“We pride ourselves on providing excellent quality goods at reasonable prices. You can find High Street labels here starting at just £2.50 for a top.”

Barbara Curd, who was one of the founding members of Cotswold Care Hospice, is a volunteer at the Nailsworth shop.

“Working in the shop is just so satisfying and so much fun,” said the 84-year-old.

“We’re doing something to help Cotswold Care Hospice and that is the most important thing.”
