SUNDAY, June 1 was the occasion of our tandem duo, Pat and Pete to lead a further 15 cyclists on a sunny afternoon's ride to Kemble Airfield for tea at the AV8 cafe.

Another sunny Sunday on June 8 saw Tony Martin lead a day ride to Shepperdine for a picnic lunch.

Afterwards the total of nine wheelers made their way back via Berkeley Castle.

Roy Jones was the leader on June 15 taking 15 members for a picnic on the river bank at Sharpness on yet another sunny and warm day.

We are beginning to have faith in proper summer weather.

Long may it continue.

Our annual Strawberry tea took place on June 22 at Bill and Margaret's home.

Everyone enjoyed sandwiches and homemade cakes followed by traditional Strawberries and cream.

A new leader - Norman Kay, took the helm on June 29 for a run out to Tetbury for tea at Lesley's Cafe.

The outward route was via Chavenage and returned through Avening.

A dozen members enjoyed yet another sunny Sunday.

The weather was not so kind on July 6 which was the occasion of our annual memorial picnic.

This is held to pay tribute to the memory of all former wheelers.

Having reached Frampton-on-Severn Green we huddled under trees for the duration of a sharp shower.

Our trip around the lanes was most pleasant.

Summer sun returned on July 13 for Roy Jones to lead 14 cyclists to Cirencester.

The outward journey was through Minchinhampton and Kemble and the return route via Daglingworth and Sapperton.

Eleven members joined Dave Limbrick on July 20 for a ride via Epney to his home in Gloucester for tea and his excellent homemade cakes.

The return route was through Brookthorpe.

Sunday, July 27 saw us in tune with the tour-de-France finale with a tour-de-Minchinhampton and Besbury.

A total of 20 wheelers led by Malcolm Jackson completed the journey to his home where his wife Roy had laid on some splendid cakes an a plentiful supply of tea at the end of a hilly ride on a warm day.

Our Wednesday evening outings (starting from new cafes by Ebley Mill), continue to be well supported.

Various routes are used to take us to one of four hostelries before returning back by dark.

The last of this seasons evening trips will be on September 10.

Wednesday afternoon rides will start on October 1.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held at Stonehouse Community Centre on Thursday, September 18 at 7.30pm.

This is where the Stonehouse Wheelers Cycling Club was started in 1948.
