75 Members of the UK’s favourite contemporary choir supported the Marie Curie Cancer Care Walk Ten in Badminton on Saturday 26th July, by performing a number of feel good songs to help set the walkers off on their way.

The choir members, from Rock Choir in Bath, Bristol, Cheltenham and Stroud entertained the crowds with classic songs such as ‘Say A Little Prayer’, ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ and ‘Mr Blue Sky’ before singing the walkers off to an empowering rendition of ‘Proud’.

Marie Curie Cancer Care is a UK charity dedicated to the care of people with terminal illnesses and their families. The charity is best known for their network of 2,000 Marie Curie Nurses, who work in the homes of terminally ill patients across the UK, providing practical care and support. Walk Ten is Marie Curie’s largest walking fundraising event, open to people of all ages and abilities. There are walks across the summer in 19 locations across the UK. The aim is to raise funds to help provide even more care to terminally ill people and their families.

Rock Choir leader, Michael Childs, was thrilled to support the event. “The weather was fantastic and the location was just stunning! The choir members put on a fabulous performance and many of them took part in the walk as well to support the charity.”

Lucy Knight, Senior Partnerships Manager, Marie Curie said: “The support we have from Rock Choir for Marie Curie’s Walk Ten is so important. The songs that the choir are singing bring something very special and magical to the beginning of the events. Money raised from these events will fund care and support for terminally ill people and their families at our hospices and help pay for nurses in the community.”

Rock Choir is the UK’s largest contemporary choir, with more than 16,000 members in over 300 local communities. There are no auditions and no requirements to read music or have any previous singing experience. Rock Choir members get together each week to attend fun, friendly rehearsals where they are taught specially arranged pop and rock songs. There are lots of exciting performances throughout the year and many of them help raise money for charity.
