MUM of three Sandy Hathaway is urging people to get behind the new Cotswolds Dogs & Cats home charity after receiving help for her jack russell.

Sandy, 49, is promoting the new Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home Charity Furniture Emporium in London Road, Tetbury after the charity helped with the costs of veterinary bills for her jack russell terrier, Jazzy.

Jazzy came to live with Sandy after being rescued from a puppy farm six years ago. Sandy said: “Jazzy was about five when she came to us, she had no fur, fleas and a mange infection. She was just used as a breeding machine.

“She eventually fully recovered and, a few weeks ago, she caught her nose and developed a lump which started to get bigger so we took her to the vets.

“They discovered it was a tumour. The vet thought that steroid treatment might reduce it but sadly we had to let her go.

“It was a dreadful experience but I can’t thank the charity enough for the help they gave us.

“Get behind the shop so they can continue to give animals access to the care and treatment they need.”

Funds raised by the shop will go toward establishing the first purpose built centre for the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of abandoned, abused and neglected domestic animals in the area near Cam.

Costing £4.1 million, the charity has already raised £2.5 million towards the new building and is hoping that the new shop will help in securing the future of this much needed facility.

Carolyn Blackburn, chairwoman of the charity said: “The more income we can raise, the more support we can give to animals within our community.”
