AT THE latest Circle meeting members took part in a blind tasting of wine made to a fruit juice based recipe which was given out last year.

It was surprising how the wine differed in taste but after the scores were totted up Dave Marlow was declared the winner.

There were two competitions judged by Alan Dean and Richard Carter from Cheltenham, who have officiated at Stroud Show for a number of years.

The social red class was won by Dave Marlow with Fred Gilpin second and Gillian Gay third, the liqueur saw John Coleman take top spot with Roslyn Raymond and Valerie Fussell taking second and third respectively.

Stonehouse recently held their annual horticultural show and in the wine section Valerie Fussell took first place with her red dry, Janice Coleman was second and husband John third.

Stan Gudge won the red sweet, Valerie Fussell second and Alan Dean third.

The white dry class was won by Dave Marlow, Alan Dean came second and Janice Coleman third.

In the white sweet class Alan Dean was declared the winner with Dave Marlow second and John Coleman third.

However as Alan Dean was the entrant with the most points he was awarded the challenge cup.
