THE August meeting is always a time when members bring home grown fruit and vegetables together with various pickles for sale to boost the funds.

This year tables were laden with a vast array of quality items on offer at ridiculously low prices.

Needless to say everything was quickly snapped up.

Afterwards, Dave Marlow tested members knowledge in a far ranging quiz.

There were two competitions both judged by Eric Brint of the Reddings.

He awarded first place in the social white class to Cyril Young with Fred Gilpin second and Dave Marlow third.

In the dry white class made from a Chardonnay-semmillian kit he judged Dave Marlow's wine the best with his wife Brenda coming second and Dave Raymond third.

The chairperson, Valerie Fussell, presented him with the Marlow trophy so in effect it was going home.

In early September the Circle are going on their annual day out which consists of a coach trip to Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford followed by a visit to an organic vineyard situated near Shepton Mallett.
