NEW clergy and lay people will be amongst those welcomed to the Gloucestershire Methodist Circuit Assembly when it meets on Sunday, September 21 at Stonehouse Methodist Church near Stroud.
Around 150 people, including representatives from the 48 churches across the county which make up the Gloucestershire Circuit, are expected at the business meeting chaired by Gloucestershire Methodist Superintendent the Revd James Tebbutt.
Membership, property, youth and community work, opportunities for church plants and expansion (especially on new housing developments); working with other Gloucestershire church partners and community projects, the environment, food banks and finance are just some of the issues on an action packed agenda.
As the Circuit's business, strategy and planning meeting, the Assembly, which has a seventeen member Executive, is the equivalent of the Anglican Diocesan Synod.
Following a break for tea, the meeting concludes with worship starting at 6.30pm when Mr. Tebbutt will preach.
He says, "In my sermon I shall be reflecting on some of the challenges facing the Methodist Church at this time".
Churches in the Circuit include those from Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Stroud, Nailsworth, Dursley, Cotswolds, Cirencester, Fairford, North & South Cerney, Wotton under Edge, Hills and Valleys across the County including the Forest of Dean.
