OUR scheduled demonstrator for the evening Delyth Price was unfortunately not able to attend due to a serious accident to her hand.

We were therefore very grateful to Marie Munday an area demonstrator from Painswick, who in spite of just getting over a bout of flu, stepped into the breach at very short notice.

Marie's title for her demonstration was "A stroll along the garden path".

Her first arrangement with an autumnal theme, was a simple design of fatsia leaves, hostas, curled phormium leaves and ears of wheat with golden coloured lilys and mini orange gerberas arranged in an earthenware bowl.

Something for the kitchen table perhaps, she suggested.

For her second arrangement Marie used a large home made nest of sticks as a base for her design.

Using euonymus, hebe and bergenias with stunning white avalanche roses she created a clever outline of a swan sitting on her nest.

"Woodland Glory" was the title she gave to her next design of spotted laurel, hosta, pink spray roses, hydrangeas, red acer leaves, pink lilys and deep pink alstromeria, skilfully arranged on a wicker-work mushroom shaped container.

Lords and ladies took pride of place on a frame made from twisted ivy roots sprayed with gold paint and fixed to a metal frame.

Small glass containers filled with more red alstromeria, sedum and asplenium were attached to the frame creating a modern fourth design.

For her fifth and final arrangement Marie arranged spotted laurel, pittosporum, sword ferns, red gladioli and some wonderfully perfumed red roses in a wicker heart shaped container replicating her love for her garden.

With the kitchen out of action we were unable to provide our usual refreshments after the meeting, however Marie's chatter and wonderful display of flowers helped to make up for the evenings difficulties.

Please note - there is no meeting next month.

Tickets for the members supper on November 5 can be purchased from committee members.

We are sorry but no one will be admitted without one.
