Health and fitness have never been more fashionable. And there’s still time for fitness fans to turn their passion into a profession, by signing up to Gloucestershire College’s GC Express Level 3 Personal Training course.

Ideal for those wanting to retrain for a new career as a Personal Trainer, this full-time course, based in Cheltenham, starts on Tuesday 28th October and is open to learners aged 19 and over.

During the intensive 17-week period, students can expect to learn the practical skills needed to work as a Personal Trainer in a variety of settings. These include health and safety in a fitness environment, customer service, anatomy and physiology, personal training programmes and sessions, and nutrition.

Once complete, learners will be qualified for personal training and can join the Register of Exercise Professionals too.

The course is run in conjunction with the new GC Gym at the Cheltenham campus, which is kitted out with state-of-the-art facilities including cardiovascular and resistance machines. This means students have the opportunity to gain practical experience in a real working environment.

James Martin, a 38-year-old former GC Express learner from Cheltenham, said: “I used to work for a charity working with young homeless people and that involved a lot of fitness training. I had applied martial arts and healthy eating education skills already, so I decided to turn fitness into a career with Gloucestershire College.

“I chose the GC Express course because I could do it in the space of 12 weeks: the Level 2 and Level 3 courses were both 12 weeks, which worked well for me. I now work as a full-time Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer at GC Gym in Cheltenham.”
