THE AGM on October 29 was opened by Bob Britton who welcomed everyone and reminded members that subscriptions for the forthcoming year and money for Christmas dinner being held on December 10 should be given to the treasurer.

The entertainment would be a vocal and instrumental Ukulele group on a Christmas theme.

He thanked everyone for their assistance during the year, with particular reference to David and Trevor who set up the hall at each meeting, Chris who does the press reports and to Noel who locks up and returns the keys and last but not least to Tim Vale, Tim Smith and Nick Roberts.

After a last resounding bang of the gavel, he then handed the gavel over to Tim Smith who takes over as chairman for the coming year.

Bob will now act as vice chairman, with Tim Vale continuing as treasurer and Chris Phillips taking on the role of secretary from Nick Roberts who stood down due to his impending house move.

The chairman went through the new Fixture List and asked for suggestions for the summer outing in July and speakers for the month of September and November.

A vote of thanks was given to Nick for all his hard work and the AGM finished at 7.52pm precisely.

With business finished, we all then enjoyed a well planned quiz organised by Bob which showed up great knowledge on some tables and the opposite with others.

We all had fun and it ended up with a tie breaker, with Table 1 being the eventual winner.

As usual members enjoyed a good variety of refreshments and the air buzzed with conversation.

The next meeting will be on November 26 when there will be a talk on Sailing Ships.
