THE Annual General Meeting of the Stonehouse Women's Royal British Legion branch took place on Thursday, October 30 at the Community Centre.

There we re 35 members present.

Everyone was welcomed especially Annie Reed the County Chairman, and Kay Scase the County Secretary.

Janet Walsh the chairman started the meeting by reading a poem in honour of all those who fell in the wars.

She then reminded us that helping ex servicemen is just as necessary now as it was after the war.

Reports were read of everything the branch had done during the last year.

Officers elected were Janet Walsh - Chairman, Janet Pitman - Vice chairman and Treasurer, Janice Shipton - Secretary, and the Standard bearer is Nicky Rudge.

Eight members received certificates of appreciation for their work in various ways for the branch.

They were Pam Lewis, Rosemary Bodenham, Marion Arnold, Daphne Taylor, June Dolphin, Penny Sweet and Sandra Sowls.

The winner of the competition for a treasured saying was Penny Sweet.

Our next meeting will be a craft competition afternoon on Thursday, November 27.

There will be a service on the Green for Rememberance Sunday on Sunday November 9 at 11.45am.
