ON FRIDAY, October 17 at 7.30pm in the Community Room of Rodborough Tabernacle United Reformed Church a quiz took place organised by Rob Arkell and Jim Stokes the previous winners.

They provided a very varied selection of rounds of Geography, General Knowledge, Science and Nature, Guess the Year 1990s, Sport Gloucestershire, T.V. Themes and Connection Round.

There were two table top quizzes which tested everyone’s knowledge which were Blockbuster and Dingbats.

During the interval pizzas were served from “Fat Toni’s” with salads and then later delicious puddings made by the ladies of the Church.

The eventual winners were led by Barbara and Ron Cook and everyone agreed that Rob and Jim had provided a challenging but very enjoyable quiz testing everyone’s brains.

A marvellous £255.46 was raised for Church Funds and £76 from the raffle for Commitment for Life the Tab’s Charity for 2014.

The Fund Raising Committee would like to thank everybody who had helped to make it a very enjoyable occasion.

Agnes Arkell will be sending 23 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child.

She has been doing this for many years and the people of the Tab and her friends contribute to the contents.

She also has sent throughout the year 23 boxes of assorted knitted garments to Stella Pre-Primary School in Durban South Africa.

She has wonderful correspondence from the Head Teacher.

They so appreciate all the hard work including two ladies of 102 and 94 who still are contributing.

On Saturday, November 29 between 10.00am and 1.30pm a Christmas Fair will take place in the Community Room and the Main Sanctuary at the Tab.

Father Christmas will be stopping off between 10.30 and 12.30.

There will be a Children’s Corner, carol singing by the Capella Singers, stalls including Fair Trade, face painting, raffle and hamper prizes to be drawn at 1.00pm and delicious bacon butties and mince pies.

Start your Christmas “At the Church on the Hill.”

You will be made most welcome.
