IT WAS good to see more members back for our November meeting and also a couple of visitors in attendance.

There were still a few apologies from Val Dalby, Crystal Harrison and Pam Clapp, but good to see Dorothy Isles and Hazel White back and feeling a bit better.

Linda Foreman was thanked for her lovely table flowers, which included some lovely dark red dahlias.

Being the AGM meeting, it was asked if the present Officers were willing to stand again, and this being the case we proceeded in the usual way.

The minutes of the previous meeting were presented and the President also gave a short account of six lucky members’ visit to Denman College on a lovely sunny day in October for morning coffee, a two-course lunch and afternoon tea.

Denman College is a beautiful building and surrounded by wonderful gardens and grounds.

I would fully recommend a visit there if you ever get the chance.

After this Treasurer Linda submitted the Financial Account which had been audited and some correspondence was then discussed.

Also plans for the Christmas Party meeting on Tuesday, December 2.

We then settled back to watch local resident and Chelsea Medal Winner, Jayne Morriss, produce five lovely arrangements, most of which went into the raffle afterwards.

She started with an orange and bronze arrangement, which she called ‘Stir-Up Sunday’ and was arranged in a large mixing bowl.

Her second piece was an all green arrangement in a large grey urn, which showed what you can do with just shrubs and a lovely ribbon bow if you are on a budget.

Her third arrangement on a large cocktail type glass depicted the ballet and especially The Sugar Plum fairy and was beautiful with pink roses and bear grass threaded with pearls in the centre.

Her final two arrangements were placements on the same large stand and were more the traditional style incorporating red flowers, such as roses and chrysanthemums and greenery.

It was a lovely display and some members were lucky enough to take one home with them.

After refreshments the table competition for a Christmas decoration, tree or table, were announced as:-

First - Mary Jarrett

Second - Dot Brunning

Third - Margaret Adams

As already stated, the next meeting on Tuesday, December 2 will be as usual in St. Matthew’s Church Hall, but a ticket will be needed for this evening which will include a buffet supper and entertainments.
