AT A MEETING at Rodborough Tabernacle on Saturday, November 15, South Cotswold Ramblers said a big thank you to Bernard Smith who retired as their secretary after 12 years.
The chairman, Richard Davis, presented him with a card and cake specially decorated to show Bernard’s work for the group.
As well as being secretary for such a long time, Bernard also involved himself in footpath problems and clearance, and was responsible for the installation of 21 kissing gates which many local walkers will be using and which were financed by the sale of South Cotswolds walk books.
Bernard continues to walk regularly with the group and was out on a six mile walk three days before the meeting.
