THE Music Club meeting on November 12 had Chris Baldwin from Gloucester embarking on a musical journey through areas that have inspired composers.

It started in England where words and music combined to reflect many wonderful expanses of countryside that infused the compositions of Vaughan Williams, Britten, Delius and others.

The journey continued through parts of Europe where composers like Smetana, Janacek, Liszt and Respighi who used dramatic musical scenes - or tone poems - to encourage and support their people, often in the face of oppressors.

The Music Club meets on 2nd and 4th Wednesday evenings at St Joseph's Hall, Stonehouse.
