THOMAS Hughes was an apothecary, surgeon and man-midwife who lived in Stroud.
He also meticulously recorded the weather here for nearly 40 years.
His very detailed meteorological records of 200 years ago are very unusual for the time, and have been looked at again recently.
We also learned about his work and connections with other professionals like Dr Jenner, and his family and life at the time.
This was our very interesting talk by Barry Harrison, in November.
Our programme for 2015 is now on our website stroudlocalhistorysociety.org.uk/about/meetings
